Lock Carrier

Removing

• The lock carrier is a safety-relevant component and for this reason it may not be serviced.

• If damaged, replace the lock carrier.






Removing

- Guide the lock carrier with the attachments - 1 - and with the front bumper carrier - 2 - into the service position, refer to=> [ Service Position ] Service Position.

- Disconnect any harness connectors.

- The procedure for disconnecting the connectors for the crash sensors for the front airbag on the driver's side -G283 are described under Removal and Installation.

- Drain the coolant and disconnect the coolant line.

- Disconnect the refrigerant lines for the condenser.

- Remove the adapter (T10467) on the left and right side between the bumper carrier and longitudinal member.

- Together with a second technician, remove the guide rods (T10093) on the left and right longitudinal members and remove the lock carrier with the attachments - 1 -.

Do not start the engine whenever the A/C system or coolant lines are disconnected.

• Do not hang the condenser and other components by the lines.

• Do not kink the condenser and refrigerant lines.

Installation

• The adaptive cruise control (ACC) must be calibrated after the lock carrier is installed for vehicles with adaptive cruise control.

- Attach the lock carrier - 1 - and the front bumper carrier - 2 - to the longitudinal member with the help of a second mechanic.

- Move the lock carrier out of its service position. Refer to => [ Service Position ] Service Position.

Continue to install in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:

• All of the connectors and hose connections must be installed in their correct positions when assembling.

- Align the lock carrier with the longitudinal members and between the fenders.
