Alternator: Service and Repair

On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.

1. On models equipped with radio coded theft protection system, refer to Vehicle Damage Warnings for system disarming and arming procedures.
2. Disconnect alternator connector, then remove nut and black wire from terminal on rear of alternator.
3. Loosen adjustment lock bolt and adjusting nut, then slip alternator drivebelt off pulley.
4. Remove mounting bolt and adjustment lock bolt, then lift alternator from vehicle.
5. Reverse procedure to install, do not tighten adjusting nut until proper alternator belt tension is obtained.
6. On models equipped with radio coded theft protection system, refer to Vehicle Damage Warnings for system disarming and arming procedures.
7. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
