• Modular wiring routing came into effect with series production of seats.

• Check version of front seat and of vehicle and perform repairs accordingly.

Memory Seat/Steering Column Adjustment Control Module or Passenger Memory Seat Control Module

• The Memory Seat/Steering Column Adjustment Control Module (J136) or (J521) is located under the front seat.

• If Memory Seat/Steering Column Adjustment Control Module (J136) or (J521) is faulty, the upper seat pan frame must be removed => [ Power Front Memory Seat Pan, S6 ] Power Front Memory Seat Pan, S6.

Removing

CAUTION!
Observe safety precautions for work on airbags => [ Airbag Inspection ] .

- Remove front seat => [ Front Seat ].

- Attach front seat to Fixture For Seat Repair (VAS 6136) => [ Front Seat, Installing on Fixture for Seat Repair VAS 6136 ] Power Front Memory Seats, S6 Overview.

- Remove bolts - 2 - (Qty. 2).





- Rotate memory seat/steering column adjustment control module - 1 -.

- Release retaining bracket - 4 - and remove connector - 5 -.





- Press retainer tabs - 3 - (Qty. 2) and remove connector - 2 -.

- Remove the bolts - 2 -.





- Remove Memory Seat/Steering Column Adjustment Control Module (J136) or (J521) - 3 - from bracket - 1 -.

Installing

CAUTION!
Observe safety precautions for work on airbags => [ Airbag Inspection ] .

To install, perform the steps used in removal in reverse order. Observe the following when doing so:

CAUTION!
Before handling airbag units (e.g. disconnecting electrical connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching door striker, for example.

• Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.

- Switch on ignition.

CAUTION!
Ignition must be on when connecting battery. If pyrotechnic components (e.g. airbag, belt tensioner) are not repaired correctly, they may deploy unintentionally after connecting battery. There must not be anyone inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.

- Connect battery with ignition on

- If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (K75) indicates a fault after installation, DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again.
