Subject: CLUTCH LINKAGE BUZZ AND MODULATION 1982 CAMARO WITH L4 AND MANUAL TRANSMISSION
TO: ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS
This bulletin is being reissued to include additional information under Condition B. The previous bulletin should be destroyed.
Clutch linkage buzz and clutch modulation may occur on some Camaros with L4 engines and manual transmission. The buzz is most prevalent at 2250 RPM or 50 MPH with the clutch engaged. The noise stops when the pedal is loaded or merely touched.
Condition A
Modulation is an erratic or incorrect engagement of the clutch. The modulation is improved by installing a new pressure plate, P/N 14066384, and driven disc, P/N 14075769.

SKETCH #2 - SPRING RETAINER:
SKETCH #3 - BALL STUD:
Condition B
The buzz is corrected by installing a new ball stud and modifying the clutch lever bracket. The new ball stud, P/N 14066968, shown on attached sketch #3, has dual seals to better retain the grease and isolate ball from cordon shaft. The new ball stud and its bore in the cordon shaft should be thoroughly greased at installation. The bracket for the cordon shaft should be modified as shown on sketch #1 to clear the lever when the clutch is released. It is critical that the bolts are properly torqued as shown in sketch #2. The spring retainer connecting the push rod assembly to the cordon shaft lever must be in good condition. When installed, the spring retainer should impart a side load to the shaft and lever.
Transmission shifter buzz may be more apparent when the clutch pedal buzz is corrected.
