An intermittent high idle condition most noticeable after extended periods of driving, may occur on some 1985 Monte Carlo and Impala/Caprice models equipped with a 5.0L V-8 engine. This condition may be due to intermittent internal grounding of the idle load compensator solenoid resulting in a loss of vacuum to the idle load compensator motor. This condition can be repaired by replacing the idle load compensator solenoid.
