Subject: DUAL ENGINE COOLING FANS
Model and Year: 1987 CAMARO WITH 5.0L ENGINE (VIN CODE F) OR 5.7L ENGINE (VIN CODE 8) AND AIR CONDITIONING (C-60)
TO: ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS
It has been reported that some dealers are trying to rewire the two engine fans so that both fans run at the same time. This SHOULD NOT be done as it may result in a burned out relay.
Normal operation of the two fans is as follows:
1. The left hand fan (drivers position) is controlled by the ECM.
2. The right hand fan is controlled by a fan temperature switch located between the number 6 and 8 cylinders. This fan comes on at 238 degrees Fahrenheit.
No attempt should be made to alter the designed fan operation.
