Timing Chain Tensioner: Service and Repair

Remove or Disconnect
1. Front cover
2. Tensioner bolt and loosen torx bolt.
3. Camshaft sprocket and timing chain
4. Torx bolt and tensioner assembly

Important
^ Timing chain tensioner is spring loaded and requires some care in reinstallation.

Install or Connect
1. While compressing spring, use a suitable tool (cotter pin, nail) and insert in hole.
2. Tensioner and torx bolt, DO NOT tighten.
3. Camshaft sprocket and timing chain, be sure timing marks are aligned.
4. Tensioner bolt and torque all fasteners to specifications.
5. Remove tool used to hold tensioner spring compressed.
6. Front cover.
