Water Pump: Service and Repair

Remove or Disconnect
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Drain coolant.
3. Serpentine drive belt.
4. Coolant pump pulley attaching bolts.
5. Coolant pump pulley.
6. Generator and side bracket.
7. Coolant pump hoses.
8. Coolant pump attaching bolts.
9. Coolant pump and gasket.
Clean
^ Coolant pump mating surfaces.

Install or Connect
1. Coolant pump gasket and coolant pump.
2. Coolant pump attaching bolts.
Tighten
^ Bolts to 25 Nm (18 lb. ft.).

3. Coolant pump pulley.
4. Coolant pump pulley attaching bolts.
Tighten
^ Bolts to 30 N.m (22 lb. ft.).

5. Coolant pump hoses.
6. Generator bracket and generator.
7. Serpentine drive belt.
8. Refill coolant.
Important
^ To properly fill the system requires the use of the air bleed vents.

9. Negative battery cable.
Tighten
^ Bolt to 15 N.m (22 lb. ft.).

Inspect
^ For leaks.
