When A Key Detection Circuit Malfunction Is Present

The theft deterrent module performs the following actions when a key detection circuit malfunction (open, or short to voltage or ground) occurs:
^ Turns ON the SECURITY indicator.
^ In addition, the theft deterrent module performs one of two actions:
A. If the key detection circuit is open, or short to voltage or ground when attempting to start the engine, the theft deterrent module sends a password to the PCM through the fuel enable signal circuit to disable fuel delivery to the engine. Also, the theft deterrent module disables the theft deterrent relay. The vehicle will exhibit an engine no-crank condition,
B. If the key detection circuit is open. or short to voltage or ground after the engine has started, the theft deterrent module enters a fail enable mode. Upon subsequent engine start attempts. the theft deterrent module wilt send a password to the PCM through. The fuel enable signal circuit to enable fuel delivery to the engine. Also, the theft deterrent module enables the theft deterrent relay. The engine will start.
