Folding Top Clock Spring Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Open the folding top stowage lid.




2. Position the top with the number one bow and the number five bow up.




3. Grasp the clock spring with vice grips or pliers and remove the spring end from the roof link pin.
4. Remove the nut.
5. Remove the clock spring and pin.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the flat washer, bushing, and gripper washer to the clock spring pin.
2. Install the clock spring with pin to the arm.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the nut.

Tighten the clock spring nut to 3.5 N.m (30 lb in).

4. Grasp the end of the clock spring with vice grips or pliers.
5. Wind the clock spring and insert the end of the spring into the roof link pin.
