Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement - Front

Removal Procedure

Caution: Do not move the vehicle until a firm brake pedal is obtained Failure to obtain a firm pedal before moving vehicle may result in personal injury.





1. Raise the vehicle and support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.

Caution: These fasteners MUST be replaced with new fasteners anytime they become loose or are removed. Failure to replace these fasteners after they become loose or are removed may cause loss of vehicle control and personal injury.

3. Remove the guide pin bolts.





Notice: Do not allow calipers to hang from the flexible hoses. Doing so can damage the hoses.

4. Remove the brake caliper from the brake caliper mounting bracket and the brake rotor.
5. Support the brake caliper to the vehicle.





Caution: These fasteners MUST be replaced with new fasteners anytime they become loose or are removed. Failure to replace these fasteners after they become loose or are removed may cause loss of vehicle control and personal injury.

6. Remove the brake caliper mounting bracket bolts and washers.
7. Discard the brake caliper mounting bracket bolts.
8. Remove the brake caliper mounting bracket from the knuckle.
9. Clean all the bolt adhesive residue from the brake caliper mounting bracket and the knuckle mating surfaces.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the brake caliper mounting bracket to the knuckle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the two new brake caliper mounting bracket bolts and washers.
The new brake caliper mounting bracket bolts will come with an adhesive already applied to the threads.
^ Tighten the front brake caliper mounting bracket bolts to 175 Nm (125 lb ft).





3. Install the brake caliper to the brake caliper mounting bracket and the brake rotor.





4. Lubricate and install the caliper guide pin bolts.
^ Tighten the brake caliper guide pin bolts to 31 Nm (23 lb ft).
5. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
6. Lower the vehicle.
