Power Steering Pump Hoses and Pipes Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Siphon the power steering fluid from the fluid reservoir.
2. Disconnect the pressure line pipe and the supply line hose from the inlet and outlet connections on the power steering pump.




3. Disconnect the pressure line pipe and the supply line hose from the inlet and outlet connections on the power steering pump.
4. Disconnect the return line from the fluid reservoir.




5. Remove the pressure line bracket securing bolt from the alternator.




6. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair in General Information.
7. Disconnect the pressure line from the power steering gear inlet.




8. Disconnect the return line outlet pipe from the power steering gear.




9. Remove the return line bracket securing bolts from the center crossmember.




10. Remove the return line securing bracket bolts near the radiator.
11. Remove the return line and the pressure line from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Route the pressure line from the power steering pump to the power steering gear.
2. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
3. Route the return line from the fluid reservoir to the power steering gear.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

4. Install the return securing bracket bolts near the radiator.

Tighten the return line securing bracket bolt to 8 Nm (71 lb in).




5. Install the return line bracket securing bolts to the center member.

Tighten the return line bracket securing bolts to the center crossmember to 8 Nm (71 lb in).




6. Connect the return line to the power steering gear outlet.

Tighten the return line fitting to 28 Nm (21 lb ft).




7. Connect the pressure line to the power steering gear inlet.

Tighten the pressure line fitting to 28 Nm (21 lb ft).




8. Install the pressure line bracket securing bolt on the alternator.

Tighten the pressure line bracket securing bolt to the 8 Nm (71 lb in).




9. Connect the return line to the fluid reservoir.




10. Connect the pressure line pipe and the supply line hose to the outlet and inlet connections on the power steering pump.

Tighten the pressure line fitting to 28 Nm (21 lb ft).

Notice: Refer to Power Steering Required Fluid Notice Service Precautions in Cautions and Notices.

11. Fill the fluid reservoir with power steering fluid.
12. Inspect for leaks. If there are leaks, correct the cause of the leaks and bleed the system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System Bleeding the Power Steering System
