Power Steering Gear Outlet Pipe/Hose Replacement (V8)

Removal Procedure

1. Place drain pans under the vehicle.

2. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.

3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.





4. Remove the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose bracket to frame retaining bolt (1).

5. Remove the engine splash shield.

6. Remove the front air deflector.





7. Remove the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose to power steering gear retaining banjo bolt (3) and the copper sealing washers (4).

Plug the power steering gear.

Discard the washers.





8. Release the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose worm drive clamp (2) and disconnect the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose (1) from the power steering cooler (3).

Plug the power steering cooler (3).

9. Remove the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure





1. Position the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose (1) in the vehicle.

2. Remove the plug from the power steering cooler (3).

3. Release the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose worm drive clamp (2) and connect the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose (1) to the power steering cooler (3).

4. Remove the plug from the power steering gear.





Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

5. Install the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose to power steering gear retaining banjo bolt (3) and the NEW copper sealing washers (4). Tighten the banjo bolt to 52 Nm (38 lb ft).

6. Install the engine splash shield.

7. Install the front air deflector.





8. Install the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose bracket to frame retaining bolt (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).

9. Lower the vehicle.

10. Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.

11. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding Service and Repair.

12. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle.

13. Remove the drain pans.
