Heater Control Valve: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
The water valve is located on the toe box between the inlet and outlet heater hoses.
1. Drain engine cooling system.
2. Locate and loosen clamps at water control valve.
3. Disconnect the heater control cable and heater hoses from water control valve (mark the heater hoses to assure correct valve installation).
4. Remove water valve mounting bolts.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the water valve and the water valve mounting bolts.
2. Connect the heater control cable.
3. Heater hoses to the water control valve. Hose(s) must be fully seated on control valve within 1/16 in. of base. Assure that hose and nipple on water control valve are clean and dry. Never use oil or silicone when installing hose. Use new clamps.
4. Locate and tighten the clamps at the water control valve.
5. Refill the engine cooling system.
