Air Outlet - Removal
REMOVAL
Special Tools:
WARNING: Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to take the proper precautions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.
CENTER OUTLETS
1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the radio Radio - Removal.
3. Remove the two screws (2 and 4) that secure the bottom of the center air outlet (1) to the instrument panel (3).
4. Disengage the two retaining tabs (1 and 3) that secure the top of the center air outlet (4) to the instrument panel (2) and remove the outlet.
DEMISTER OUTLETS
NOTE: Right side outlet shown. Left side outlet similar.
1. Install Air Vent Remover (10289) (2) onto the demister outlet (1) being serviced.
2. Carefully pull on Air Vent Remover (10289) and remove the demister outlet from the instrument panel cover (3).
DRIVER OUTLET
NOTE: Take the proper precautions to protect the instrument panel bezel from cosmetic damage.
1. Remove the driver side instrument panel bezel and place it on a workbench.
2. Disengage the three metal retaining tabs (2 and 4) and remove the air outlet (1) from the instrument panel bezel (4).
PASSENGER OUTLET
NOTE: Take the proper precautions to protect the instrument panel bezel from cosmetic damage.
1. Remove the passenger side instrument panel bezel and place it on a workbench.
2. Remove the screw (3) that secures the air outlet (1) to the instrument panel bezel (4).
3. Disengage the three metal retaining tabs (2 and 5) and remove the air outlet from the instrument panel bezel.
