Shift Linkage: Adjustments
1. Engage parking brake, then remove the shift quadrant bezel.2. Remove shift quadrant, then loosen adjuster nuts on shift cable.
3. Shift selector lever to N and ensure detent spring roller is in the N position.
4. Move transaxle shift lever into the N position.
5. Tighten lower adjuster nut by hand until it contacts the T-joint, then loosen nut one-half turn. Tighten upper adjuster nut to 69-95 inch lbs.
6. Press selector interlock button, then push selector lever toward R with 4.4 lbs. of force. Measure distance selector lever has moved. This distance should be no more than .31 inch.
7. Repeat step 6 toward the D position.
8. If the distance toward R is greater than toward D, tighten lower adjusting nut until distance is equal. If the distance toward D is greater, loosen lower adjusting nut until distance is equal.
9. Check operation of manual linkage. If shift is not smooth, place selector lever in P. Loosen attaching screws on detent spring and roller assembly, then adjust position of detent spring roller. If this adjustment is made, repeat steps 6 through 9. Ensure linkage adjustment has not affected operation of neutral safety switch. Engine must crank in P and N positions only.
10. Install shift quadrant, then the shift quadrant bezel.
