Pressure Plate: Service and Repair
Removal
1. Remove the transaxle.
2. CAUTION: If reusing the clutch pressure plate, evenly tighten the bolts in stages, working diagonally, until the diaphragm spring is decompressed (approximately two turns).
Remove the clutch from the flywheel.
- Remove the bolts and lift off the clutch pressure plate and clutch friction disc from the dowel pins.
Installation
1. CAUTION: Evenly tighten the bolts in stages, working diagonally, until the clutch pressure plate contacts the flywheel.
Install the clutch disc with the clutch pressure plate.
1. Using the special tools, install clutch friction disc onto the flywheel dowel pins.
2. Tighten the clutch pressure plate bolts, working diagonally (six new bolts).
- Remove the special tools.
2. Remove the special tool.
3. NOTE: Make sure that the input shaft of the transaxle is moved sparely into the hub of the clutch disc. Do not bent in any direction.
Install the transaxle.
