M3O BROKEN EXHAUST MANIFOLD STUD

1990-92 M30 (F31)

SERVICE INFORMATION:

The exhaust manifold stud has been changed for improved durability. Use the following procedure to repair vehicles which exhibit excessive exhaust noise due to exhaust manifold stud breakage.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:




1. Remove the exhaust manifold on the side of the engine with broken stud(s). (Figure 1) Refer to the EM Section for the appropriate Service Manual.

2. Replace the broken stud and all of the exhaust manifold studs for that cylinder head using only the improved part, P/N 14O65-V5O03.

3. Replace the exhaust manifold gasket and exhaust manifold with new parts. Refer to the EM Section of the appropriate Service Manual for proper torque values for the fasteners. Refer to the Parts Catalog/Microfiche for applicable P/N's.
