AFTERMARKET WHEEL CAUTION


APPLIED MODELS: 1990 Q45 and M30


SERVICE INFORMATION

Original equipment wheels used on 1990 Infiniti Q45 and M30 vehicles were specifically designed for use on these models to achieve maximum performance. Specifically, they were designed to meet required load limit, offset, diameter and width specifications.

These original equipment wheels are subject to rigorous testing procedures to ensure they meet Infiniti standards. Obviously, Infiniti cannot ensure that aftermarket wheels will meet these same standards. Therefore, Infiniti cannot recommend their use, or guarantee their performance.

However, if aftermarket wheels are installed, the following minimum guidelines should be followed:

1. Verify with the aftermarket wheel manufacturer that their wheels are designed to support the specific Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) shown on the F.M.V.S.S. Certification label of the specific vehicle.

2. Always use wheels with the same diameter and width as the original equipment wheels.

3. The original wheel offset must be maintained.

4. Ensure that the original factory wheel-brake caliper clearance is maintained.

5. Use only vented-type wheels that are designed to maintain sufficient brake cooling.

6. Do not use larger diameter or wider tires than the original equipment tires.


Aftermarket wheels that do not meet all of the above criteria may degrade handling, braking and steering performance, as well as ride quality. This could result in other factors that may affect safety, performance and/or customer satisfaction.

Shown below are some Q45 and M30 wheel specifications. For additional wheel specifications, refer to the 1990 owner's and/or Service Manuals for the respective vehicle.
