PROPSHAFT INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

APPLIED MODELS: 1990 Infiniti Q45 and M30


SERVICE INFORMATION

When installing or replacing the propshaft, the correct installation and alignment procedure must be followed to ensure proper phasing between the propshaft and final drive assembly.

NOTE: If the same propshaft will be re-installed, put matchmarks on the propshaft and its differential companion flange prior to removal.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:





1. Align (as close as possible) the mark on the propshaft to the mark on its differential companion flange (Factory mark) (Figure 1).


2. Install attachment nuts/bolts finger tight.





3. Rotate propshaft until the Factory mark on the differential companion flange yoke (Figure 2) is at the top position.


4. While pulling the propshaft downward, snug the 2 lower accessible fasteners to maintain flange alignment. Rotate the tire (do not use propshaft to rotate) to bring the remaining fasteners to an accessible position.

5. Torque the 4 attachment fasteners to 65-72 ft.lb.
