Air Injection Pump Clutch: Service and Repair

Fig. 18 Air Pump Clutch Replacement:

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Loosen the adjusting arm nuts on both sides of the block.
3. Loosen air pump adjusting block bolt.
4. Loosen the adjusting arm pivot bolt.
5. Loosen the air pump pivot bolt and move the air pump towards the engine, then remove the belt.
6. Remove the clutch plate nut, and then the clutch plate, Fig. 18.
7. Remove the pulley retaining ring and remove the pulley.
8. Remove the electrical connector from the clutch coil connector.
9. Remove the clutch coil housing retaining clip, and remove the housing.
10. Clean all mating surfaces and reverse procedures to reassemble.
