DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE:

NOTE:
The Diagnostic Procedure must begin with a cold engine.

INSPECT FOR INTAKE AIR LEAKS / MONITOR LONG-TERM AND SHORT-TERM FUEL TRIMS

1. Use Special Tool 218-00015, VACUTEC 522-B EVAP Tester (or equivalent) to smoke test the following for five minutes each:

^ Down the oil level indicator tube

^ In the part-load breather

2. If any leaks are found, repair as necessary.

3. Repeat step 1 to verify repair.

CAUTION:
A Midtronics PSC-550 Vehicle Power Supply must be connected to the vehicle battery during diagnosis.

4. If no leaks are found, connect the Midtronics PSC-550 Vehicle Power Supply to the vehicle battery.

NOTE:
IDS must be loaded with latest software.

5. Connect the IDS to the vehicle and begin a new diagnostic session by entering the correct VIN for the current vehicle.

6. Follow the IDS prompts to read the vehicle configuration.

7. Select 'No' when prompted 'Do you wish to read diagnostic trouble codes?'

8. Select 'tick' to continue.

9. Start engine.

10. Using the IDS Datalogger function, monitor long-term and short-term fuel trims until engine is fully warmed-up.

^ Long-term and short-term fuel trims should remain below 10%.

11. Use Special Tool 218-00015, VACUTEC 522-B EVAP Tester (or equivalent) to smoke test the following for five minutes each:

^ Down the oil level indicator tube

^ In the part-load breather

12. Verify all engine intake air cleaner outlet pipe / hose connections are secure. (Figure 1)

13. If long-term and short-term fuel trims remain below 10% and no leaks are found during the smoke test:

^ Print out Fuel Trim Adaption report.

^ Contact Jaguar Technical HelpLine.

14. If any leaks are found, repair as necessary.

15. Repeat step 11 to verify repair.

16. If long-term and short-term fuel trims are above 10%, refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 303-12E to replace the supercharger outlet pipe gaskets (AJ86892). (Figure 2)

17. Remove the Midtronics PSC-550 Vehicle Power Supply from the vehicle battery.

18. Using IDS Datalogger function on a cold engine, monitor long-term and short-term fuel trims during road test until engine is fully warmed-up.

^ Long-term and short-term fuel trims should remain below 10% under all conditions except during wide-open throttle application.

19. If fuel trims remain above 10% (except during wide-open throttle application) and supercharger outlet pipe gaskets have been replaced:

^ Print out Fuel Trim Adaption report.
