Removal
1 Remove the transmission.For additional information, refer to Transmission - 4.2L Removal

WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.
Raise and support the vehicle.

NOTE:
Prevent the flexplate from rotating.
Remove the flexplate.
- Remove the 8 bolts.

Installation

CAUTION: Make sure that the locating pin on the crankshaft is aligned with the guide hole in the flexplate.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown in two stages.
- Tighten to 15 Nm.
- Tighten to 110 Nm.
