Compressor Clutch Relay: Testing and Inspection

A/C relay
1. Disconnect A/C relay connector.




2. Check continuity between terminals.
3. If not as specified, replace relay.




4. If correct, go to next step.




5. Apply 12 V to terminal A and ground terminal D.
6. Check for continuity between terminals C and B.




7. If not as specified, replace relay.

A/C relay control




AT oscillation
When oscillation is made during vehicle is stopped but the A/C is in operation, the A/C relay is to be turned off for 1.5 sec.




AT accelerating
The A/C relay is turned OFF for 5 second when the TPS output voltage is over 3.9 - 4.1 V.

AT high coolant temperature
The A/C relay is turned off at the coolant temperature over 110 °C - 115 °C (230 - 239 °F) after engine start.
