Starter Drive/Bendix: Adjustments
Service adjustment procedures for Pinion gap1. Disconnect the field coil wire from terminal M of the solenoid.
2. Connect a 12 V battery between the terminal S and B.
3. Switch ON to move the pinion.
CAUTION: The test must be performed as quickly as possible (in less than 10 seconds) to prevent the coil from burning.
4. Check the clearance (pinion gap) between pinion and stopper with a feeler gauge.
Pinion gap : 2.0 mm
5. Make adjustment by adding or removing shims between the solenoid and front bracket if the gap is out of standard value.
