Child Restraint: Service and Repair

In order to properly secure a child restraint seat with a lap and shoulder belt, a locking clip is required. A child restraint without a locking clip may tip over during normal braking or cornering. A locking clip is not required with lap belt applications.

Installation







1. Thread the belt webbing through the child seat according to the manufacturers instructions.
2. Buckle safety belt.
3. Pull on the shoulder portion of the belt to make the lap portion snug.
4. Unbuckle belt to install locking clip to belt webbing.







5. Slide any corner of the locking clip onto both layers of belt webbing (shoulder portion and lap portion).






6. Pinch opposite side of webbing together, and insert into locking clip slot.







7. Pinch both sides of the other end of the webbing to fit into the other two slots of the locking clip.







8. Buckle belt. Tighten lap portion by holding locking clip and pulling up on shoulder portion of the belt webbing.
