The Digital Instrument Cluster consists of an Electronic Instrument Module (EIM) and a conventional feature section. The conventional section includes Turn Indicators and a Hi Beam Indicator.

The Digital Instrument Cluster consists of an Electronic Digital Speed Indicator, an Electronic Digital Fuel Level Indicator and an Electronic Odometer.

Electronic Digital Fuel Level Indicator

The Fuel Gauge Sender is similar to a conventional sender except that its resistance ranges from about 11 ohms when empty to about 165 ohms when full.

The Electronic Digital Fuel Level Indicator shows fuel level digitally in gallons or liters and a pump symbol.

When the Ignition Switch is turned from OFF to RUN or ACC, a 2 second display test begins. first, all segments light. Next, all segments go off. Finally, the fuel level is displayed.

When 2 gallons or less is indicated on the fuel indicator display, the fuel pump symbol flashes on and off at a rate of once per second as a indication of low fuel. The flashing continues until the key is turned to off or until sufficient fuel is added to display a quantity of 3 or more gallons on the indicator. At fuel levels of less than 1 gallon, an "E" and the flashing pump signal are displayed. When nearing zero fuel, the "E" and the pump symbol will flash as an empty alert.

The Electronic Digital Fuel Lever Indicator also provides a fuel level indication signal to pin 8 of the Trip Minder Module.

Electronic Digital Speed Indicator

The Electronic Digital Speed Indicator displays vehicle speeds from 0 to 85 mph or 137 km/h. The driver may select mph or km/h by pressing the miles/km button located on the Trip Minder keyboard. The mode last selected will be displayed when the Ignition Switch is turned from OFF to RUN or ACC. In case of power disconnect, mph is automatically selected. Vehicle speed exceeding the maximum limits are indicated by the maximum indications. Vehicle speed is displayed regardless of whether the vehicle is moving forward or backward.

When the Ignition Switch is moved from OFF to RUN or ACC, the Electronic Digital Speed Indicator begins a 2 second desplay test. First, all segments light. Next, all segments go off. Finally, 0 mph or 0 km/h is indicated until vehicle movement begins.

Speed information is provided by a transmission-mounted Vehicle Speed Sensor through circuits 150 (DG/W), 683 (P/LB) and 89 (O). This Sensor also provides speed information directly to the Trip Minder Module and EEC Module.

Electronic Odometer

the Electronic Odometer displays accumulated miles or kilometers and is capable of displaying from 00000.0 to 99999.0. When 99999.9 is exceeded, the display rolls over to 00000.0

The mileage is stored in the Non-Volatile Memory Module, which has power-down memory retention. It will retain the memory even if the battery is disconnected.

When the Ignition Switch is turned from OFF to RUN or ACC, a display test sequence will begin. First, all segments will light. Next, all segments will go off. Finally, the current mileage will be displayed in miles or kilometers.
