Warning Indicators
I/P Warning Indicator Display
Voltage is applied through Fuse 18 to the I/P Warning Indicator Display when the Ignition Switch is in START or RUN. Individual indicators light up as described below.
AIR BAG Indicator
The AIR BAG indicator lights up when a system fault exists in the Air Bag Restraint System.
Alternator Warning Indicator
The Alternator Warning Indicator lights when the voltage in the Voltage Regulator drops below the preset level.
Fasten Belts Indicator
The Fasten Belts Indicator lights up for four to eight seconds when the Ignition Switch is in RUN or ACC.
Engine Indicator
The Engine Indicator lights when the engine oil pressure drops below a preset level or (with Electronic Instrument Cluster) when the engine coolant temperature goes above a preset level.
CHECK ANTI-LOCK BRAKES Indicator
The CHECK ANTI-LOCK BRAKES Indicator lights up when a system fault exists in the Anti-lock Brake System.
The Brake Indicator lights up with the Brake Fluid Level Sensor closed (low fluid level) or with the Park Brake Switch closed. The Indicator also lights up with the Ignition Switch in START to test the bulb.
Overhead Warning Indicator Display
Voltage is applied at all times through Fuse 8 to the Overhead Warning Indicator Module. Individual indicators light up as described below.
CHECK SUSPENSION Indicator
The CHECK SUSPENSION Indicator lights up when a system fault exists in the Air Suspension System. The Indicator will also flash once every two seconds to show that the air fill routine (in the module) has been entered.
HEADLAMP OUT Indicator
The HEADLAMP OUT Indicator lights up when the lo beam headlamps are on and one or more of the lo beam lamps are burned out.
REAR LAMP OUT Indicator
The REAR LAMP OUT Indicator lights up when the headlamps are on and one or more of the rear park lamps are burned out or when the brake lamps are energized and one or more of the brake lamps are burned out.
CHECK OIL Indicator
The CHECK OIL Indicator lights up during engine start-up as a bulb test. When the Ignition Switch is turned to the RUN or START position, the Low Oil Level Relay determines whether the Low Oil Level Switch is grounded (oil low) or not grounded (oil not low). If the oil level is adequate, the light will go out with the Ignition Switch in RUN.
If the oil level is low (approximately 1.4 liters [1.5 quarts] or less), the Relay keeps the warning lamp on until the oil level is no longer low or the Ignition Switch is turned OFF. After the Ignition Switch is turned OFF, the Relay will not reset for approximately five minutes. This delay allows time for oil drainback before another reading occurs. If the engine is restarted during this period, the last reading will be displayed.
Included in the Overhead Warning Indicator Display are two Dome/Map Lamps. Voltage is applied at all times through Fuse 8 to these lamps and their switches. The Dome Lamps are controlled by the I/P Illumination Dimming Control or by the door switches. The Map Lamps are controlled by their own individual switches.
Trip Minder Warning Indicator Display
Anti-Theft Indicator
The Anti-Theft indicator provides an indication of alarm system standby and arming condition status. Refer to ANTI-THEFT for further information.
CHECK ENGINE Indicator
The CHECK ENGINE Indicator lights up when a system fault exists in the engine. This indicator is controlled by the Electronic Engine Control (EEC) Module.
Door Ajar Indicator
The Door Ajar Indicator lights up whenever the Ignition Switch is in RUN and a door is not completely closed.
Trunk Ajar Indicator
The Trunk Ajar Indicator lights up when the trunk is opened.
Low Washer Fluid Indicator
The Low Washer Fluid Indicator lights up when the windshield washer is activated and fluid level is low.
Fuel Off Indicator
The Fuel Off Indicator lights up when the Inertia Switch is triggered and the Fuel Pump is disabled.
