2007 CX-9 - LIFTGATE GLASS REPLACEMENT CAUTION - SERVICE TIP

DESCRIPTION

When the liftgate glass is replaced, inform the customer it is critical to NOT operate the power liftgate (PLG) for seven (7) days after liftgate glass installation. This will allow time for the sealant attaching the glass to the liftgate to properly cure (harden) and create the structured rigidity required of this component. If the PLG is operated automatically and the sealant has not hardened, the liftgate assembly may deform.

Do not use the following PLG system functions:

^ Power liftgate button located on keyless transmitter

^ Power liftgate button located on dashboard

^ Power liftgate close button located lower edge of liftgate trim panel

Manual opening/closing of the liftgate is ok and will not cause liftgate deformation.
