Fuel Injector: Service and Repair

Fuel Pump Connector:

WARNING: Before performing the following operation, release the fuel pressure from the fuel system to reduce the possibility of injury or fire.

Fuel Injectors And Rails:

1. Disconnect fuel pump.
2. Crank engine for 15 seconds to release fuel pressure.
3. Disconnect the connectors from the injectors.
4. Remove the injector harness from the delivery pipe.
5. Remove the bolts from the intake manifold.
6. Remove the delivery pipe with the injectors and the pressure regulator.

Fuel Injector Grommet And Insulator:

7. Remove the injectors, grommets, and insulators.

Fuel Injector O Ring Installation:

NOTE: Use new injector "O" rings.
^ Apply a small amount of clean engine oil to the "O" rings before installing.
^ Install new injector insulators.

8. Install injectors in reverse removal procedure. Tighten to 14 - 19 ft lb (19 - 25 Nm).
9. Start engine and check for fuel leaks.
