EGR Control Solenoid: Description and Operation

EGR System Schematic:

PURPOSE
Solenoid valves (EGR vent and vacuum) are PCME controlled to regulate EGR valve operation.

LOCATION
Top left side engine.

OPERATION
These are duty valves, enabling the PCME to make continuous EGR adjustments as required under a wide range of operating conditions. Inputs calculated by the ECU include:

^ Crankshaft position sensor
^ Inhibitor switch
^ Throttle position sensor
^ Engine coolant temperature sensor
^ EGR function sensor
^ Airflow sensor
