DESCRIPTION
A cracking noise which sounds like metal contacting other metal may be heard around the "B" and "C" pillar while driving. This is caused by the door lock striker installation bolts vibrating against the body panel. Refer to Fig. 1. If a customer complains of this noise, adjust the door lock striker nut plate to prevent contact.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1) Verify complaint.
2) Loosen the door lock striker bolts. Refer to Fig. 2.
3) Center the door lock striker holes with the holes in the nut plate.
NOTE:
Be sure the nut plate holes are aligned to prevent contact with the body panel.
4) Verify that the striker is aligned and tighten the door lock striker bolts.
Tightening Torque: 1.8 - 2.7 kgfm
5) Verify repair.
