Rear Cross-Member: Service and Repair






REMOVAL
1. Remove rear stabilizer.
2. Remove rear lower lateral link.
3. Follow removal steps outlined in the illustration.





4. Suspend the axle assembly by using a rope while removing bolts from lower lateral link.





5. Suspend the main silencer by using a rope while removing nuts from the crossmember.





6. Remove the rubber mount by using the Special Service Tool (SST).

INSTALLATION
1. Follow the removal steps in reverse order as outlined in the illustration for installation, noting the following steps.
2. Apply soapy water to the new bushing.
3. Install the rear crossmember bushing.





4. Pull the rubber mount into the rear crossmember by using the SST.





5. Apply adhesive compound onto the stopper as shown in the figure.
6. Install the stopper onto the rear crossmember.
7. Adjust the rear wheel alignment.
8. Bleed the air from the brake system.
