DESCRIPTION
The seat belt minder is a supplemental warning to the seat belt warning function established for North American specification Mazda6 vehicles. This feature provides an additional reminder to the driver that the driver's seat belt is not fastened, by intermittently emitting a beep sound and flashing the seat belt warning light in the instrument cluster.
The seat belt minder can be deactivated either temporarily or over the long-term, and can be restored again if the customer wishes. The following information has been added to the Owner's Manual:
Refer to the Repair Procedure for customers requesting Temporary or Long-Term Deactivation of the seat belt minder function.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
TEMPORARY DEACTIVATION
To temporarily deactivate belt minder:
1. Turn ignition switch to ON position.
2. Fasten driver's seat belt for approx. 2 seconds.
3. Unfasten driver's seat belt within 20 seconds.
NOTE:
Belt minder will be deactivated temporarily until next time ignition switch is turned to ON position.
LONG-TERM DEACTIVATION
To deactivate belt minder long-term, instrument cluster configuration will be changed using WDS. If belt minder is deactivated long-term, it will remain deactivation until it is restored using WDS.
NOTE:
Long-term deactivation cannot be canceled by turning ignition switch to OFF/ON or by disconnecting battery.
To deactivate belt minder long-term using WDS version B36 or higher:
1. Identify vehicle, verify "Vehicle Specification" recognition screen information.
2. Select "Tool Box" tab at top of screen.
3. Select "Module Programming", press Tick.
4. Select "Programmable Parameters" then "Warning Lamps/Chimes", press Tick.
5. Turn ignition switch to Off position, then to On position.
6. Select "Belt Minder - IC (Instrument Cluster)", then "Disabled", press Tick.
7. Turn ignition switch to ON position, press Tick.
8. Verify IC (Instrument Cluster) configuration change.
9. Verify "IC Module configuration complete" message appears on screen.
10. Turn ignition switch to OFF position, press Tick.
IC (Instrument Cluster) configuration is now complete.
NOTE:
If customer wants seat belt minder restored at a later time, repeat Steps 1-10 above. At Step 6, select "Belt Minder - IC (Instrument Cluster)", then "Enabled", press Tick.
WARRANTY INFORMATION
NOTE:
Deactivation or re-activation of seat belt minder is not covered under Mazda warranty and should be considered a customer pay item.
