Inspection Procedure
Figure 2:
Figure 3:
1. Locate the FBC control unit which is located under the heater unit in the passenger compartment. Refer to figure 2 and figure 3 to locate the battery backup power source (Red/Blue) wire that should have been cut and taped. If the wire has not been cut then refer to FBC control unit modification.
NOTE: THE WIRE LOCATIONS AT THE CONTROL UNIT ARE DIFFERENT DEPENDING ON THE TYPE OF TRANSMISSION.
Figure 4:
2. Open the hood. Compare the vacuum hose routing label to figure 4. If the label is incorrect refer to "Label Installation".
Figure 5:
3. Inspect the vacuum hose routing at the secondary air control valve. The white striped hose should be connected to the upper nipple of the valve and connected to the vacuum hose junction, figure 5. A rubber plug should be located on the lower nipple. The indicated area should be missing the check valve. If repairs are necessary refer to "Vacuum Hose Routing Procedure".
Figure 6:
4. Using a light and a mirror verify that the choke shim has been installed on the carburetor choke adjustment screw. The shim looks like a cap that is installed between the end of the choke adjustment screw and the thermo wax element. If shim is missing refer to "Choke Shim Installation".
Figure 7:
5. With the engine off and the ignition key in the off position, slowly open the throttle while inspecting the sub-EGR valve for smooth operation. If the sub-EGR valve does not operate smoothly refer to Sub-EGR Servicing.
