NOTE: Step numbers refer to procedure shown in image above.

5. INSTALLATION OF CRANKSHAFT PULLEY / 4. CRANKSHAFT COMPRESSOR PULLEY




(1) Using the special tool and a discarded drive belt stop the rotation of
the crankshaft pulley.
(2) Tighten the crankshaft sprocket bolt to toe specified torque.

19. INSTALLATION OF CAMSHAFT SPROCKET




(1) Using the special tool, hold the camshaft sprocket.
(2) Tighten the camshaft sprocket bolt to specified torque.

17. INSTALLATION OF TENSIONER / 16. TENSIONER SPRING

(1) Install the tensioner spring, tensioner spacer and timing belt tensioner.




(2) Pry up the tensioner spring protrusion with a screwdriver or similar tool and bend it over the front case projection.




(3) Move the timing belt tensioner toward the water pump and tighten it loosely.

14. INSTALLATION OF FLANGE




- Install the flange with its chamfer directed toward the crankshaft sprocket.

12. INSTALLATION OF TIMING BELT




(1) Align the timing marks on the camshaft sprocket with that on the crankshaft sprocket. (This will place the piston in No. 1 cylinder at the top dead center on compression stroke.)
(2) To install the timing belt, first put it around the camshaft sprocket. Then using care not to slacken the tension side of the belt, put it around the camshaft sprocket.




(3) Apply force to the camshaft sprocket counterclockwise (in direction of arrow B) to stretch the tension side of the belt and make sure that the respective timing marks are in alignment.

(4) Loosen the tensioner mounting bolt A and then the bolt B.(5) Turn the crankshaft clockwise.

Caution:
1. Turn the crankshaft smoothly and never turn it counterclockwise.
2. To tension the belt, do not apply any other force than spring force.

(6) Tighten the tensioner mounting bolt B and then the bolt A.

Caution: Tightening the bolt A first may cause the tensioner to turn with the bolt A and tighten it excessively.




(7) Make sure that the belt is tightened properly. Be sure that when the tensioner and the timing belt are grasped horizontally, the timing belt teeth end is located approx. 1/4 of the width across flats of the head of the tensioner mounting bolt B from the flat.
