SUBJECT: BINDING INSIDE LOCK ROD OR INSIDE HANDLE TO
LOCK ROD - TAPE AFFECTED AREA WITH CLOTH (DUCT) BODY TAPE

MODELS/YEARS: 1991 CUTLASS CIERA


CONDITION: Some 1991 Cutlass Ciera models built between vehicle number M630001 and M6339644 may exhibit a condition of binding inside lock rod or inside handle to lock rod.





CAUSE: Hot melt glue may be stuck to the inside lock rod on the back side of the water deflector as shown in the illustration.

CORRECTION: Tape over back side of water deflector in affected area with cloth body tape (duct tape) (see View B).

Procedure:
1. Remove trim panel.
2. Remove water deflector in area shown in View A.
3. Remove hot melt from lock rods.
4. Tape over hot melt and reinstall water deflector.
5. Check operation of system.
6. Reinstall trim panel.
