Radiator Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Fan, Hand, and Toot Caution in Service Precautions.





1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Starting and Charging.
2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
3. Remove the engine mount strut. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement.
4. Remove the engine mount strut bracket from the upper radiator support. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Bracket Replacement (Upper Radiator Support) or Engine Mount Strut Bracket Replacement (Engine).
5. Disconnect the cooling fan wiring harness from the engine harness.
6. Disconnect the outlet hose from the radiator. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement - Outlet.
7. Disconnect the inlet hose from the radiator. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement - Inlet.
8. Remove the cooling fan shroud. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement
9. Disconnect the transmission oil cooler lines from the radiator. Refer to Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Hose Replacement in Transmission and Drivetrain.





10. Remove the radiator mounting bracket.
11. Remove the radiator mounting brackets.
12. Remove the radiator.





13. Remove the radiator mounts.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the radiator mounts.





2. Install the radiator.
3. Install the radiator mounting brackets.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Install the radiator bracket bolts.
Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
5. Connect the transmission oil cooler lines to the radiator. Refer to Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Hose Replacement in Transmission and Drivetrain.
6. Install the cooling fan shroud. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement.
7. Connect the inlet hose to the radiator. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement - Inlet.
8. Connect the outlet hose to the radiator. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement - Outlet.





9. Connect the cooling fan wiring harness to the engine harness.
10. Install the engine mount strut bracket from the upper radiator support. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Bracket Replacement (Upper Radiator Support) or Engine Mount Strut Bracket Replacement (Engine).
11. Install the engine mount strut. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement.
12. Fill the cooling system with engine coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
13. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Starting and Charging.
14. Inspect for leaks.
