Rocker Arm Assembly: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the positive battery cable.
3. Remove the battery from the battery tray.
4. Remove the camshaft.
5. Unclip and remove the intake rocker arms from the rocker arm shaft.





6. Remove the six rocker arm shaft bolts (1).





7. Carefully slide the rocker arm shaft (2) out of the cylinder head while removing the exhaust rocker arms (1) and springs from the rocker arm shaft.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Apply clean engine oil to the following components:
^ Rocker Arm Shaft
^ Rocker Arms

2. After applying the engine oil to the rocker arm shafts and the rocker arms, carefully slide the rocker arm shaft into the cylinder head with the holes facing up while installing the exhaust rocker arms and springs in the proper sequence.





3. Install the rocker arm shaft bolts (1).
^ Tighten the rocker arm shaft bolts to 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.).






4. Install the intake rocker arms onto the rocker arm shaft in the proper sequence.
5. Install the camshaft.
6. Install the battery.
7. Install the positive battery cable.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
