Valve Cover: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
2. Remove the two crankcase vent hoses (1,2) from the valve cover.
3. Remove the secondary spark plug wire retaining clamps and spark plug wires from the valve cover.
4. Remove the six valve cover bolts.





5. Remove the valve cover (2) from the cylinder head.
6. Remove the valve cover gasket (1) and seals (3) from the valve cover.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the new valve cover gasket (1) to the valve cover (2).
2. Install the new valve cover seals (3) to the valve cover (2).





3. Install the valve cover to the cylinder head.
4. Secure the valve cover with the six bolts.
^ Tighten the cylinder head cover bolts to 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.).

5. Install the secondary spark plug wire retaining clamps and spark plug wires to the valve cover.
6. Install the two crankcase vent hoses (1,2) to the valve cover.
7. Connect the negative battery cable.
