Removing and installing drive plate for torque converter on DFI engines








Preliminary work

1. Remove the transmission.

1. Mark installation position of the drive plate relative to the crankshaft using a felt-tip pen.
2. Block the drive plate. To do this, block the crankshaft at the pulley using the brace T10069.

3. Remove the drive plate. To do this, loosen the fastening screws crosswise.

Information:
Shims are fitted under or on the drive plate. These must be refitted again at the same place they were before the drive plate was removed. The shims are to be marked with a felt-tip pen before removal.

4. Remove the drive plate.
5. If the drive plate is tight, carefully lever it off using a screwdriver if necessary.

Installing drive plate for torque converter on V6 DFI engines

Information:
^ Clean the crankshaft flange before installing the drive plate (remove rust).
^ Use a special metal-polishing pad (e.g. Never Dull) for this.

1. Fit drive plate.
2. Block the drive plate. To do this, block the crankshaft at the pulley using the brace T10069.

3. Correctly fit the shims according to the removal marking.
4. Tighten the new fastening screws crosswise. -> Initial tightening: 60 Nm (44 ftlb.)

-> Torque angle: 90°

Subsequent work

1. Install transmission or, with the engine removed, mount the transmission.
