REFERENCE: URGENT REMINDER - SAFETY RECALL 265, Fuel Hose Position, 1985 Turbos
This is to follow up our Service Information bulletin which was mailed to you earlier this week about an important safety recall involving a possible fuel leak in the engine compartment. Please do the following as soon as possible:
1. Make sure you received S.I. 05/85-762 and you and your service personnel have read it carefully. Please brief your Saab sales and parts personnel as well.
2. Make sure your parts department has received the initial quantity of hoses shipped this week from Saab-Scania of America, Inc.'s Orange, Connecticut depot. You should receive the initial supply by May 22 at the latest. The quantities are small because we believe that in most cases, the hose will be undamaged and need not be replaced.
3. Please check the Status List printout attached to the S.I. for affected vehicles listed as in dealership inventory. 1985 TURBOS IN YOUR NEW CAR STOCK OR DEMONSTRATOR SERVICE SHOULD BE INSPECTED IMMEDIATELY!
Vehicles wholesaled to you after May 6, 1985 by Saab-Scania of America, Inc. have been inspected prior to shipment.
4. Owners of retailed 1985 Turbos will be notified of the defect by mail early in the week of May 20. You will receive the notice instead of the owner if the SSDR card was not processed by the end of April. In such cases please call the recent purchaser immediately and forward the recall notice to them as an agent acting on our behalf.
