Enclosed with this memo are five copies of the new Saab Transportation Guidelines pocket guide. Please distribute within your shop to those that might have dealings with the transportation of cars to or from your dealership.
Proper transportation procedures are important to ensure that tie-down loading is distributed evenly throughout the car. Uneven or excessive chain tension can cause damage to the undercarriage and possibly the upper sheet metal.
When transferring cars by commercial carrier to another dealer it is important that these guidelines are followed. For the same reason be sure to check that incoming cars have not been improperly tied down.
Extra copies of this pocket guide are available from the Transportation Department at Saab-Scania of America. This guide has also been distributed and is in use at all facilities that ship new Saab automobiles from the ports of entry.
