Power Steering Pump Replacement (L61)

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the power steering pump reservoir fill cap.
2. Disconnect the power steering hoses from the steering gear.





3. Disconnect the power steering hoses at the power steering pump.





4. Remove the power steering pump to cylinder head bolts.
5. Remove the power steering pump from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure






Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

1. Install the power steering pump the cylinder head.
Tighten the power steering pump to cylinder head bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).





2. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump.
Tighten the fitting to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
3. Connect the power steering return hose to the power steering pump.
Tighten the clamp to 2.5 Nm (22 inch lbs.).





4. Connect the power steering return hose to the power steering gear.
Tighten the fitting to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
5. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the power steering gear.
Tighten the fitting to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
6. Fill the power steering reservoir and bleed air from the system.
