SUBJECT: SEMI-METALLIC BRAKE PADS

Please be advised that there is now a semi-metallic brake pad set available through normal parts channels under part number 725 191 450. These brake pads are designed for vehicles used primarily in city-type driving where continual stopping and starting may tend to reduce brake pad life.
Installation procedures for this brake pad kit are identical to other SUBARU brake pads except for the addition of a noise suppressor which is part of the brake pad itself and does not need to be installed separately (See Figure 1).
As with any brake pad replacement, make certain that the rotors are in a serviceable condition before installation of the semi-metallic brake pads.
NOTE: A faint brake squeal may be heard after installing the new semi-metallic brake pads on the vehicle. This is a normal characteristic of semi-metallic brake pads.
