RE: 1985 CRESSIDA STATION WAGON FUEL TANK CAMPAIGN (SSC #507)

Toyota has decided to conduct a service campaign to replace fuel tanks on 1985 Cressida Station Wagons as part of our customer satisfaction program.

The fuel tank cannot be filled to maximum capacity when the tank is being filled under certain slow fill-rate conditions. Owners of subject Cressida Station Wagon will be notified by mail on July 23, 1985.

1. Vehicles Involved:

All 1985 model Cressida Station Wagons

2. Repair Procedures:

See the attached detailed Technical Instructions and Reimbursement Information.

3. Vehicles in Dealer Inventory:
- All new 1985 Cressida Station Wagons in dealer new car inventory should have the tank replaced before retail sales.

- All new Cressida Station Wagons being shipped from P.O.E. after July 12th will have this campaign completed. (Campaign completion label affixed to vehicle)

4. Parts Ordering:

Attached is the VIN listing of Cressida Station Wagons retailed from your dealership. Due to the small number of total vehicles involved and to eliminate any over-ordering or excessive parts inventory, it is strongly requested that each dealer order parts for not more than 30% of the total number of vehicles shown on the VIN listing or initial inventory. If your dealership has not retailed any subject Cressida Station Wagon (indicated as zero on computer listing), order the parts only after a vehicle owner has made an appointment to have the campaign completed.

The owner notification letter (sample attached) urges the owner to contact the Toyota dealer first for an appointment prior to taking the vehicle in for actual repair service. Therefore the appointment should be scheduled so that the replacement part can be ordered and be available when the owner actually brings the vehicle in for the campaign completion.

Please thoroughly review the enclosed instructions and have your staff completely familiarize themselves with the procedure to ensure proper implementation of this campaign. If you have any question to this service campaign, please contact your Regional/Distributor Service Department.
