Pick-Up Coil: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect cam position sensor wiring connector.
3. Set cylinder No. 1 at TDC compression stroke.
4. Remove air cleaner pipes and hoses as necessary to gain access to cam position sensor.
5. Remove power steering pump reservoir.
6. Remove cam position sensor hold-down bolt, then withdraw sensor from cylinder head, Fig. 25.
7. Remove O-ring from base of cam position sensor.
8. Install new O-ring on base of cam position sensor, then align gear drilled mark with groove on lower housing.
9. Install cam position sensor, aligning the center of the flange with that of the hold-down bolt drilled hole.
10. Install hold-down bolt finger tight.
11. Install power steering pump reservoir.
12. Install removed air cleaner pipes and hoses.
13. Connect cam position sensor wiring connector.
14. Connect battery ground cable, then start engine and allow to warm up.
15. Set ignition timing. Refer to Inline 6 Cylinder Engine Tune Up for procedure.
