Variable Valve Timing Actuator: Testing and Inspection

CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

INSPECT OIL CONTROL VALVE RESISTANCE




a. Remove the No.2 cylinder head cover.
b. Disconnect the oil control valve connector.
c. Using an ohmmeter1 measure the resistance between the terminals.

Resistance: 6.9 - 7.9 ohms at 20 °C (68 °F)

If the resistance is not as specified, replace the valve.
d. Reconnect the oil control valve connector.
e. Reinstall the V-bank cover.

INSPECTION

INSPECT CAMSHAFT OIL CONTROL VALVE OPERATION







Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1 and negative (-) lead to terminal 2, and check the movement of the valve.
If operation is not as specified, replace the valve.
