Engine Control Module, without Anti-Theft Protection

• If it is desired to replace the Engine Control Module (ECM), connect the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051) and perform the function "Replace control module".

Removing

- Switch off the ignition.

- Remove the wiper arms and plenum chamber cover

- Remove the plenum chamber bulkhead.

- Disengage the forward electrical connector - 1 - from the ECM and disconnect it.





- Pry up the locking mechanism - 2 - slightly.

- Slide the ECM out of the retainer - arrow -.

- Disengage the rear electrical connector from the ECM and disconnect it.

Installing

- Connect the rear electrical connector to the ECM and engage it.

- Slide the ECM into the retainer.

- Press the locking mechanism - 2 - against the ECM.





- Connect front electrical connector - 1 - to the ECM and engage it.

- Install the plenum chamber bulkhead.

- Install the wiper arms and plenum chamber cover.
