CU Climate Control Unit Removal

Remove battery negative lead.

Set heater control to off.

Sound insulation and side panels, both sides.

Remove:
- radio
- center control panel. Undo leads as necessary. Put panel on one side.
Note: If installation is equipped with AC: be careful not to damage the sensor head.

Remove:
- glove compartment.
- strip under outer vent. Bend carefully with a chisel.

Remove:
- covers under steering wheel arm.
- choke control.
Note: Cars without choke control: remove choke cover washer.

Remove:
- strip under outer vent.
- rheostat knob for instrument lighting.
- light switch knob. Leave switch where it is.

Remove extra instrument covers.

Remove speedometer cable and electrical connections from dashboard as necessary. Remove dashboard.

Remove:
- storage compartment.
- center vents.
- dashboard frame.

Disconnect connector to drier switch.

Remove:
- air duct between heater and centre vents.
- leads to the glove compartment lights.
- rubber plug for the defroster terminal.

Remove dashboard.

Remove:
- mounting bolt for air duct to rear floor. Let duct down slightly.
- lower heater mounting.
- hose to vacuum tank.
- control wire and sheath to control valve.
- upper and lower screws to center console.
- screws to center member.
- ground lead to fan motor.
- input hose to control valve. Attach hose pliers.

Disconnect upper hose from heater matrix.

Remove:
- hoses to vacuum motors
- air ducts.

Undo screws to upper heater mounting slightly.

Shutter Actuator Diaphragm Hoses:
Remove:
- hoses to vacuum motors.
- air ducts.

Undo:
- hose from vacuum tank.
- screw to duct to rear floor. Let duct down slightly.
- both screws to lower mounting. Remove mounting.

Undo center console:
Remove upper and lower console mounting bolts. Put console on one side.

Remove RH member mounting bolts. Remove member.

Remove connector from heater fan switch and positive lead.

Undo vacuum hose from control panel to REC vent.

Undo incoming vacuum hose from T-pipe to floor motors.
If climate control system is fitted with AC, continue as follows:

Remove clip from evaporator cover. Put cover on one side and undo evaporator slightly.
Note: Be careful not to damage sensor head when taking down evaporator. Undo sensor head from evaporator if necessary.

Remove upper mounting screws. Remove heater:
Take out evaporator at same time.
